Monroe: The Movie

Here is a great video of Monroe playing with his grandpa and uncle on his bike. He is also trying to eat dinner himself. (Spoiler alert: He ends up wearing most of it.)

We'll finsh with some pictures of Monroe in his Halloween costume.

Wasn't he a cute dragon!

Nana's Visit and Playing in the H20

Here are the rest of the pictures that I was promising.

Monroe and Nana reading a book!

Monroe and Mommy playing in the pool at Staunton River State Park.

Monroe plays with the splash mat in the yard.

We are all really looking forward to Monroe starting at the new school next month. He got his boarding pass last week and he gets to visit in a few weeks. Very exciting.

So much going on in July!

Well it took some begging and several threats, but I am finally updating the blog pictures. Monroe is really getting big now. He's walking pretty well now, although he still stumbles quite a bit. He definitely knows what he wants these days and is not afraid to whine until he gets it. He loves to figure how things work and trying to fit things together.

These first pictures are from the fireworks at Genworth on the third of July. That was a wonderful day that we got to share with our friends! We had a picnic and sat around in the grass listening to the patriotic music. Monroe spent most of the time going in the cooler for watermelon or ice. It was such a great weekend that I can't wait to do it again next year!

These are our friends RT and Molly who met us at the fireworks. It was great having them around!

The next two pictures are of Matthew and Monroe at Lewis Ginter on the Fourth of July. The garden was really crowded and hot, but we still had fun.

That's all the pictures for today, but check back next week and I'll post the pictures from my mom's visit! If you check back and I haven't posted yet, then just cut out a few magazine letters and drop me a note. That seems to get me moving.

Father's Day Weekend

Monroe really enjoyed celebrating Father's Day with his daddy this weekend. On Saturday they both went to a Daddy Boot Camp picnic

and then they came and visited Mommy at work.

On Sunday we all took our time waking up, but when we finally did get moving we headed out for lunch and a trip to the children's museum! We love CMoR! There is so very much to do there and now that they have opened up the new area for children under three we really love it! (A few of the pictures are from our trip to the museum last week.)

Monroe really loves his daddy and was so very glad to get to spend the weekend with him!

Monroe at Maymont!

Saturday, Monroe had a lot of fun visiting some of the animals at Maymont.
He thought the potbellied pig was so funny!

His favorite animal was the cow. He practiced saying "moooooo".

He couldn't really see the black bears, but he really liked the statue!

He finished the day off with a bottle and a nap on the way home. (He was rockin' the shades that day.)

The Last of the Disney Photos...I promise!

I told you there were more coming and here they are.

Our trip to Disney and Monroe's First Birthday!

Wow. It has been a really wonderful week. We took Monroe to Disney for the first time and it was his first birthday! There are so many photos that I created two slideshows. I'll add more pictures as I get them!

Here are the pictures from Disney. Monroe got to visit the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Blizzard Beach! Monroe really liked meeting the characters at the Magic Kingdom and seeing a show in front of the castle. He liked petting the animals and the first half of the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom. (He slept through the rest of the show.) At Blizzard Beach he had fun playing around in the water.
(I have removed this slideshow.)

These are the pictures from Monroe's birthday party. First we had dinner at an Irish Pub called Raglan Road at Downtown Disney. Monroe really liked the soda bread and fries. He also enjoyed dancing along to the Irish music! We finished the evening with a Mickey party complete with Mickey cake! It was a wonderful first birthday!
(I have removed this slideshow because of the sound.)
These are just the pictures we had on our camera. I'll share more as I get them from others!

Finally!

Well it has been a long time, but we are finally updating this bog! We have been very busy here! Monroe got visits from both grandmothers, he got his first haircut, and started practicing walking!

I know what you are thinking...shut your big yap and just show us the cute baby pictures. Here they are.

This is Monroe and his Nana for his first Easter!

Here he is with his Great Grandmother Beaver!

This is a very cute picture of one of Monroe's very cute Easter outfits! His Nana made this one!

Monroe's first haircut!

Monroe and his Grandmomma!

He's going to start doing laps around the house soon!

Well, that's what happens when you wait so long between posts. You have a million pictures to put up. I'll have to do a book suggestion next week when there will be more room!

DC and the Big Snow

This has been a very intersting two weeks. Last weekend we drove to DC and visited with Uncle Johnathan. Although the day started out rainy and cold, the sun did eventually come out.

Nothing was as exciting to Monroe as the dog. Finally someone at his eye level!

This weekend, we got our first real snow! Lots of it! Monroe didn't go outside to play in it, but we did bring the snow indoors for him.

Building the snowman was nearly as much fun for him as it was for mom.

Happy Valentine's Weekend!

Monroe worked really hard making a card for his daddy this morning.

Believe it or not, some of the paint actually did end up on the paper! The resulting artwork was greatly appreciated and will, I think, soon be hanging in the Museum of Modern Art.

Not too much else going on in the Harrison Household right now. Looking forward to a short work week. (YYYAAAAYYYY for Presidents!)

This week we are reading...

Monroe is working on turning the pages. He really likes the bright colors of the fish. The pictures will give us a lot to count when Monroe gets older!

A Day at the Park

Well, we've slacked off a bit, but things have been a bit busy here. However, we did take a break and go to the park last weekend. We met a buch of friends and had a great time. First we had a little picnic. Well, to be honest Mom and Dad had a picnic. Monroe looked longingly at solid food.

Later we tried out the swings. Monroe was a pro and he really loved it!

Next we tried the slide.

Monroe wasn't quite old enough to fully appreciate that one yet.

We finished the day with a lovely stroll along the trails comparing notes with another new mom. It was great!

Now I know you are asking yourself, "What have they been so busy doing?" Well I have been working hard to complete a staff training program for all of the library staff in the county that goes live on Valentine's Day. I didn't create it, but I did design several of the pages. I'm very proud of the final product. Anyway, I 'm telling you all of this in an attempt to explain the next picture. It was created while working on the photo sharing page of the training. This is what I have been doing at work...
Monroe as a Kitten
Don't I have the coolest job in the world!!!

This week we've been reading...

Monroe really likes looking at the pictures of the babies. He's really been fighting going to bed lately, so I like to think that the picture of the baby yawning helps make him tired. It makes me tired.

Our First Post of the New Year!

I know that it has been a while since our last post, but we have a lot to report! Monroe has been crawling around like crazy, and he has learned how to pull himself up to a standing postition. Now we have to chase him around the house as he chases after the cat. (Monroe thinks that she is just the funniest thing that he has ever seen!)

Monroe has also decided that he is now old enough to begin feeding himself.

As you can see he isn't quite sure where his mouth is or how to use a spoon, but he gets very upset if we don't let him try it himself. We think that maybe he has a future in finger painting.

Last weekend Katie's friend from college, Beth, and her boyfriend came to visit us. We all got to go to Wintergreen where we had a terrific time snow tubing! (Monroe and Dad stayed warm inside by the fire.)

Beth even managed to get a picture as we sped down the hill!

This next picture was taken over Christmas. I know it is long since over, but I really liked this picture, so I'm adding it.

This week we are reading...

Monroe likes reading books with pigs these days. (Could it be he looks to them for inspiration?) We also really like looking for the little hidden yellow duck on every page. Can you find him on the cover?
